Snap A Picture: Daily North Carolina Life

Well, I am finally back home from my little trip to North Carolina to visit my mother.  I suppose this means I should get back into the whole getting dressed and doing my makeup everyday thing, as well as blogging.  I must admit, it was a nice little break not having to worry about what I wore, how I looked, taking pictures and updating my blog.  Because of my little break it may take a little time for me to get back into the swing of things fully, but I will do my best to make sure it doesn’t stay quiet on here for too long.  During my trip I didn’t do much except for spend time at home with my mother and family.  When I arrived the weather was extremely hot and humid (90 degrees).  Two days later the temperature plummeted and it was overcast and utterly gloomy (we are talking 55 to 60 degrees, if even that).  We spent most of our time relaxing at home, watching TV, and playing with the dogs (they have four).  We did manage to make it to a local consignment shop where I picked up a few goodies, which I will have to share here at a later date.  On my final full day there the sun finally poked it’s head out, and the temperature was somewhat reasonable, so I took the opportunity to snap a few pictures of the scenery, the dogs, and the goats. Here are a few of my favorites pictures.

Hummingbirds are seriously difficult to snap a picture of. Even the slightest movement and they would flitter off.

A little turtle statue that sits by the koi pond. I thought it was cute.

Waterfall that my stepdad built for the koi pond.

The biggest of the four dogs, and the only female one, Sophie. So very pretty.

And this is Buddy, the ridiculously fat Rat Terrier. We also call him Budgy, or Sausage Dog.

And this is Cheech. He knows how to take perfect glamour shots. He is a purebred long-haired chihuahua.

This is Mobley, AKA Mo. He is part Pekingese, part Cairn Terrier. He is so ugly and looks like a gremlin, but it is his sheer ugliness that makes him cute. He is also ridiculously loyal and sweet.

I think this is called an Anole. If not, it's just a pretty lizard sunning itself on the porch.

This is one of Mom's two goats. His name is Claus, and he is pretty awesome.

And this little guy is Comet. Both the goats are pretty skiddish and wont let you come near them. But they are both super cute!

See what I mean? Glamour pose!

See more pictures in my album on Flickr (there are more adorable doggie pictures there).

  • great shots!
now, is it just me, or does the “glamour shot” dog have shockingly human-like features?

  • What absolutely gorgeous dogs! I’m glad that you had a lovely holiday, sometimes it’s just lovely to completely relax and not worry about what you’re wearing. Glad to see you’ll be getting back into the swing of things (and blogging more) soon!

These are great shots. I do agree about Cheech since the dog does really have glamour. Everyone looks cute and professional even the goat. You had been in an amazing place Kate. It looks very relaxing there and the views are great.
