Thrifty Threads: The Nautical Wench

I can never seem to stay away from outfit posts for very long. They are just so much fun to do, as well as incredibly easy. When I threw this outfit on yesterday I knew I would have to blog it, and so here it is. The dress is just so adorable and fun (I am an incredibly sucker for anything with stripes and nautical themed), and I will use any excuse I can to wear my jean jacket. And I love how the mustard flats perfectly compliment the yellow detail on the pocket and the shoulder ties. All in all, an outfit that I seriously love.

While the rest of the country is enjoying cooler temperatures, the last week here in California it has been ridiculously warm. But, as every person who has been in California for at least a year knows, that is how September works here. If it was a mild summer (and this one was one of the mildest we have had in the 4 years I have been here), then that means September will see some scorcher days. Luckily I work in the actual city (as in San Francisco), and it is always at least 15-20 degrees cooler than where I live (for example it is 91 where I live right now, and 77 here in the city), so I don’t have to die in the heat too much. I am definitely looking forward to some cooler temperatures as I really want to break out my tights and boots (a pair of brightly colored tights and cognac boots would be perfect with this outfit).

As you may have noticed, I kind of gave up on my hair. It is in that incredibly awkward growing out phase, and I have gotten tired of trying to style it in the morning (I much prefer the extra 10 minutes of sleep). Thus I pull a brush through it and then just leave it to air dry. Honestly, for no effort at all, it doesn’t look too bad. I have a hair appointment in a week, so I will get it cleaned up then (at least get the split ends trimmed).

Any special plans for the weekend? I plan to clean my house, relax, and spend some time reading the first Game of Thrones book, which I am already hooked on.
